Editorial standards
The standards below are the ones we can be held to. If a page on this site breaches them, tell us and we will correct it in public.
Sourcing
Regulatory figures — tax rates, thresholds, statutory deadlines, official price indices — are taken from the authority that sets or publishes them, not from secondary commentary. Each such figure is stored with its source, the issuing authority and the date it was last confirmed, and it is that stored date the page displays.
No invented figures
We do not publish estimated, remembered or averaged regulatory figures. Where a value has not been verified, the page shows that it is unavailable instead of a plausible number. Calculators never pre-fill a tax rate or an interest rate on the reader's behalf: they compute from the figures the reader supplies and show the arithmetic.
Independence
Spain Property Compass is independent of property sales and does not sell property listings or allow commercial relationships to influence editorial content. We take no payment for coverage, placement, ranking or linking. Any future advertising will be visually and structurally separate from editorial content, and advertisers have no sight of or influence over what we publish.
The advice boundary
We publish general information and calculated estimates. We do not give legal, tax, mortgage or investment advice, and no page here is a substitute for a qualified professional instructed on your circumstances. Every page states which of those two categories its content falls into.
Review and updates
Pages carrying regulatory figures are scheduled for re-verification, and the displayed date tells you when the check last happened rather than when the words were last edited. Cosmetic edits do not reset that date.
Corrections
Errors are corrected promptly and logged openly. The process, and how to report one, is on the corrections page.
