About Spain Property Compass

What we do

Most English-language information about Spanish property is published by people who are paid when a property is sold. That does not make it wrong, but it does make it incomplete: the asking price is foregrounded and the cost of completing, owning and eventually selling is left to be discovered later.

Spain Property Compass exists to answer the other half of the question. Every guide, location page and calculator here works towards two figures: the cash you need to complete, and what the property costs you every year afterwards.

Independence

Spain Property Compass is independent of property sales and does not sell property listings or allow commercial relationships to influence editorial content. We do not broker mortgages, take listing fees, or accept payment for coverage or placement. Where the site is monetised in future it will be through advertising, clearly distinguishable from editorial content and never permitted to affect what a page says.

How we publish

A figure appears on this site only once it has been checked against the authority that sets it and recorded with the date of that check. Where we have not verified something, the page says so rather than estimating. Our methodology explains the process in detail, and our editorial standards set out the rules we hold ourselves to.

Who writes it

Content is currently produced and reviewed by the Spain Property Compass Editorial Team. We do not publish invented author biographies or claimed professional credentials; named contributors and any professional reviewers will be listed on the authors page as they join, together with what they are qualified to review.
